Mr. Halbert -- what a guy!! I was a photographer for both
Trail yearbook as well as the school newspaper. Mr. Halbert
treated his students with respect, trust, and inspired us to always
work our hardest, do our best, and love what you do. I remember
him always being there when there were deadlines to meet and helping
us "kids" figure out how to get things done as a team. It was a
great lesson he left us with that applies just about every day in a
person's life. Thank you Mr. Halbert for being an inspiring
person to those of us lucky enough to have spent precious time with
you.

I still cry when I see your picture. I still laugh when I
think of your belly laugh. I have 4 years of terrific memories,
Mr. Halbert. May your soul rest in peace.

I have so many great memories of Mr. Halbert, it's hard to pick one to
share. The one things that really stands out is his phenomenal
patience. He very seldom lost his cool. The first time he did, I was
shocked. He raised his voice and yelled at us to shut up. We did.

Oh how you are missed. I don't think you ever knew how much influence
you had on me. What an incredible man. How much fun we had all
working late to meet deadlines for the yearbook. You were stern but also
forgiving and always a blast to be around. Thanks for filling in at the
last minute as an usher at my wedding. I sure miss you. I wish you
were still here to see how I turned out. Thank you for making high school
so exciting.
Rest in peace my friend...rest in peace.

I remember the day when the principal came into our Newspaper Staff class and
told us that Mr. Halbert wouldn't be back as a teacher at CHS. He had been
on sick leave for quite a long time, and we knew something serious must have
been wrong. Kim Blair and I went in the girls bathroom, and cried our eyes
out. Mr. Halbert was the greatest teacher a person could have. He
had a wonderful sense of humor and would constantly kid me about anything he
could come up with. He was a truly special man.
Rest in peace Mr. Halbert. You're sorely missed.

My best memory of Mr. Halbert is when he and Mr. Irvin
crashed my wedding reception (Mar. 1970). My former mother-in-law lived in
the same trailer park that Mr. Halbert and Mr. Irvin lived in and I held my
wedding reception at the club house of that trailer park and they both crashed
it. It was a lot of fun to see them there. They really gave me a
hard time about getting married so young.

What a guy! A true professional with a love for
life, his students, and the profession. He
strived for "us" to reach for our hidden talents.

The finest teacher I ever had. He gave
me a great gift. He helped me find my talent. Not a day goes by that I don't
think of him and bless his memory.
